My Approach
My primary focus is supporting clients to experience a therapeutic relationship in which they feel safe, understood, respected, and empowered.
When you feel safe in therapy, you are empowered to journey into those places that might otherwise embarrass you, overwhelm you, confuse you and/or scare you. When you feel safe, the journey into these places can take place in a way that leaves you with greater insight, awareness and skill, and a meaningful experience of, and ongoing capacity for, change. When you feel safe, you can learn to trust another with your vulnerability and through this process you can learn to trust yourself. When you trust yourself, you are empowered to make those changes that support you to honour your Self.
I do not work to my own agenda; I am instead guided by both your needs and the pace that feels comfortable for you. I offer suggestions, insights, and approaches that are relevant to understanding your struggle and building within you those skills and capacities needed for growth and change to take place. The approach we work with is therefore ever evolving in relation to the deepening insight that grows from our time together.
On A Personal Note
I continue to learn how to prioritise a healthy work-life balance so that I can attend to all areas of my life in a way that supports me to feel aligned to my core values, and to be healthy in my physical and mental health.
When I am not working, I enjoy time with my husband and son, and our small menagerie of one dog and two cats. I also enjoy and need time to myself, in which I like to read, bake, pursue creative interests and play the piano (I am a relatively new student). Exercise has become an essential part of my life, and my love of running keeps me on the road through most seasons.
